Nature Based (Outdoor) Therapy

Why outdoors instead of an office?

Through my own personal journey, my education and work in wilderness therapy, I have seen how incredibly healing it can be to return to our roots. Just the act of being out in nature has been researched and proven to provide us with many health benefits both mentally and physically such as reducing stress, anxiety, and boosting the immune system. When this is combined with therapeutic intervention, it can help re-set the nervous system, decrease difficult symptoms and create a present, grounded state of being.

"I go to nature to be soothed, healed and have my senses put back in order."

-John Borroughs

What happens during an outdoor session?

Outdoor therapy is unique because as we are working together, we are also very much connected to what is around us - the weather, the plants, the animals, the river, etc. This leads outdoor therapy to being experiential and brings in metaphor and symbolism. As your therapist, I will offer different exercises and ideas to deepen your experience and to support your healing. These are suggestions and are always optional.

If you are interested in outdoor therapy, we will first meet over video to make sure it is a good fit and to answer any questions you may have.

Travel

The outdoor location is in Clinton, MT (exit 120). From the parking location, the forested private land I utilize for sessions is less than a 10-minute walk and includes some uneven terrain. The land we will be on runs along the beautiful Clark Fork River.

YES, this is offered all year round! During the winter months, I have a large tent set up similar to an office with heat. This is set up in the same forested location giving us the ability to go in and out as needed.

Nature Heals.

Please reach out if you are interested in a complimentary 15 minute phone session to see if this therapy is right for you!

Nature in Mind also offers outdoor day retreats.
